International Volunteer Manager’s Day (IVMDay)

Meeting National Standards and Strategy Seal Meeting National Standards and Strategy What's this?

Introduction

International Volunteer Managers' Day (IVMDay) is an annual event, celebrated each year on November 5, dedicated to recognising the important work of volunteer managers. Established in 1999, it has become a global movement highlighting the unseen efforts that keep volunteer programmes running smoothly.

Summary

International Volunteer Manager’s Day provides a focal point to recognise and acknowledge the important role which Volunteer Managers make in sustaining successful volunteering across our communities. Each year, a theme is announced which helps highlight a different perspective of this important role.

Benefits for Volunteer Involving Organisations

By understanding the value of IVMDay, volunteer organisations can show their appreciation for their volunteer managers, and volunteer managers can leverage the occasion to better advocate for more resources and recognition within their own agencies. This can help to boost morale, reduce staff turnover, and create a more positive working environment.
